Meet Aaron Robertson – Portfolio Manager
Aaron officially started his career in Finance and Investment Management in 2011, but his passion for investments started when his parents bought him his first stocks for his 16th birthday.
Ever since then, he has followed the markets closely and witnessed the value investments bring to achieving financial success. Aaron’s path of experience started at the big banks, then on to a Vancouver Island-based Credit Union. While at these financial institutions, Aaron realized his passion for helping people is what really keeps him motivated.
With Alitis’ commitment to client success and service, Aaron truly feels that his values of helping people matches that of the company. Alitis’ unique style of investing and access to non-traditional asset classes also made Alitis a perfect fit for Aaron.
Why do you work at Alitis?
The reason why I am here is because I get to meet with people day to day and help them reach their goals and see their satisfaction and build relationships with them.
What is your superpower or unique ability?
I think my unique ability is to conceptualize ideas, strategies, and the investments themselves.
What do you love about your job at Alitis?
The thing I love most about my job is connecting with my clients – sometimes I don’t like to use the word clients because we’re really a team, we’re really trying to get to a place where they feel they’re financially successful and its not just an adviser/client type situation – its really we need to both be working together to reach the same goal. I love when clients are engaged and they’re able to meet me on that team and we can go at it together.
When you aren’t working, what do you do for fun?
When I’m not working, I love to hang out with my children, we like to go to the park, we like to play sports. In my own personal time, I like to play sports as well – I play some recreational ball and recreational hockey and really enjoy anything to do with sports.
What is unique about Alitis?
Alitis does have a unique model especially when it comes to the Investments themselves. For some people when they hear words like “Private” and “Alternative” that can scare people and I think what the misconception is, is that private and alternative increase risk in a portfolio and what they’re really meant to do is diversify the portfolio and overtime that should decrease risk.
What is the most satisfying part of your job?
The most satisfying part about my job is meeting with a client and building those relationships. I mean, ultimately, we are here to have them reach their financial goals but that relationship building that, you know if I had to be selfish, that part of the businesses is really why I’m here.
